Meet Khushboo Ghulati: She loves capturing curious souls and is a renowned name in fashion and celebrity photography
WallMag: A little about Khushboo Ghulati.
Just a normal girl who has an immense passion for fashion. Hunting to capture curious souls- portrait/fashion/celebrity/lifestyle photographer.
WallMag: Tell us where it all begun? How did you become a fashion photographer?
It was all a random conversation between me and my friend Ayesha who is a makeup artist, I use to click her whenever she practised makeup and certainly that conversation and decision led me to where I am today.
WallMag: When you’re working with a model, how important is communication during a shoot?
Camera is just a medium to capture the moment but the true connection depends on the photographer and the subject( model). There are certain emotions and feelings that need to be portrayed in the image when the viewer sees it. Communication between the photographer and the model can bring out the best result making it easy and reducing the entire team's time. if the model has certainly not understood the brief then it's very difficult to convey what exactly you are trying to show.
WallMag: Mostly you are working with people, what is the secret behind to get a good expression or pose from them?
I think not instructing them too much and letting them be themselves gets the best expression. Briefing the subjects is very important to be it a model or a celeb but you need to leave it to them after you have done the briefing, giving them their own space. too much instruction makes one conscious and stressed resulting in bad output.
WallMag: Of all the images you’ve made so far in your career, which is your favourite?
WallMag: You’ve clearly worked with a wide range of models, what tips can you recommend to people looking to expand their portfolio?
I guess doing a different type of work and having a wide range of variety is very important for any artist, be it a model, Makeup artist, model, photographer, stylist. My advice and the thing I really practice is doing a variety of work to update my portfolio and bring versatility in my work. As finding a style is good but it becomes too monotonous after a point so practising different things can give you a lot of exposure and get you a variety of work professionally in the market as well.
