The koi fish is a popular symbol for the family, - black koi for father, flame red koi for mother, blue and white for boy, and pink and red for girl. Koi fish have been called "living jewels" and "swimming flowers" for their physical beauty. A koi pond on one's property is believed to improve the flow of positive energy and serenity. The name "koi" is Japanese but it is believed that that these carp have origins in Eastern Asia, Persia and China. Some of the legends believe that koi started as a little fish and grew into a strong Dragon which makes koi look powerful and gives it a strong symbolic meaning. Their beautiful appearance is adorned with bright colors such as yellow, orange, gold, white, black, silver, calico mix, etc. Koi also symbolizes a willingness to stand out from the crowd.
