Meet Tapan Sheth: Winner of Nature's Best Photography Asia 2016
WallMag: Tell our readers a bit about Tapan Sheth.
I am from Gujarat and running a software company from the last 14 years. Photography for me is like something which I can't live without.
WallMag: How did you get involved with wildlife photography?
As I bought my first dslr it was just to click my daughter's picture while we are on vacation. But soon after once, we went for a safari to Gir national park. And this royal animal the Asiatic lion, the atmosphere of the jungle and all. I fall on in love with them all and this is how its all started.
WallMag: What inspires you about wildlife photography?
Everything about it. Animals, habitat, jungles and to make people more aware of conversations and wildlife.
WallMag: What are the difficulties faced by a wildlife photographer on a regular basis?
There are many like being there in filed kind of worst conditions from 48 heat to -4 degree. Hours of waiting. Travelling to tough places etc. and above all the results are not always satisfactory.
WallMag: How do you plan a shoot?
It depends on which place I am visiting. Have to plan from choosing lenses, camera, outfits, permits and all to plan.
WallMag: Which is your favourite image?
WallMag: Story behind the above picture.
It is a very precious picture, showing how Asiatic lion sharing their habitat with humans and how they live safely with each other.
WallMag: Any advice you want to give to new wildlife photographers.
Don't run behind costly gears. First, learn everything about animals, study them. Work hard to get shots. Not costly gears give you best shots.
