Six Strings and a Country to Play For: Guitar Player Awards 2026

Six Strings and a Country to Play For: Guitar Player Awards 2026

Pre-Launch Announcement

An upcoming national stage for India's guitarists

WallMag is preparing to unveil the WallMag Guitar Player Awards 2026, an upcoming national recognition built for the guitarists who have spent years living inside their instruments. This is an early word, not a launch. We want the players who care most about tone, phrasing, and feel to have the runway to write properly, record properly, and arrive at submissions with their strongest performances.

WallMag Creator Magazine has always been a community-first publication, and our awards exist to put creators in the same room as the recognition, the readership, and the partner ecosystems they have already earned through long, unglamorous hours of practice. The Guitar Player Awards 2026 will continue that tradition, lifting the country's most expressive guitarists, in every form the instrument takes, into a national conversation that recognises the depth of work behind every clean line.

About the award

The WallMag Guitar Player Awards 2026 celebrate India's finest guitarists, acoustic, electric, classical, and bass, across rock, jazz, classical, folk, and experimental traditions. The award invites original solos, compositions, and reinterpretations that show off both technique and musicality.

Entries will be evaluated through a curated industry jury working alongside an open community vote, recognising tone, phrasing, and creative voice. Speed without intention does not last. Tone without ideas does not move anyone. We are listening for the players who can do both at once, who choose every note as if it has to earn its place. Selected creators will earn national visibility, partner brand collaboration opportunities, and a place in WallMag's music legacy.

Six Strings, Limitless Voice. That is the spirit we want this edition to carry.

Who it's for

If your relationship with the guitar is the longest creative relationship in your life, this award has been built with you in mind. We are thinking specifically of:

  • Lead and rhythm guitarists across rock, jazz, blues, and beyond
  • Acoustic, classical, and fingerstyle guitarists
  • Bassists and bass guitar specialists
  • Indian classical and fusion guitarists

There are no genre, instrument-class, or experience restrictions inside guitar performance. The country has serious players in every tradition, from session-level jazz cats to fingerstyle composers, from Carnatic-fusion guitarists to bassists holding entire bands in place. That breadth is what we want this edition to honour.

What we're excited to see

Up to five projects per creator will be welcome, each one a complete piece or a coherent set telling a single story. We are especially excited to receive original guitar performances, solo or band, recorded audio or video, original compositions or distinctive cover arrangements.

To keep the bar high and the playing field level, three principles guide every submission:

  • Authentic ownership: Each submission must be created and fully owned by the creator.
  • Maximum scope: Up to 5 unique projects may be shared.
  • Integrity first: Any plagiarism, copied work, stock content, or AI-generated content results in immediate disqualification.

Each entry can carry a short note from the player. A line on the gear, the room, the mic placement, or the arrangement choice you are most proud of can take a recording much further than another caption ever could.

Prizes and recognition: an early preview

The recognition stack for this edition rests on three pillars: meaningful platform value, editorial visibility, and partner-led collaboration with the guitar makers, amp and pedal builders, audio brands, and retail partners shaping the country's music ecosystem. Final details will be confirmed at launch, but here is what creators can expect.

Start preparing

The work begins now, on the bench. Pull out the pieces you have been refining for months. Re-record the ones you never got around to capturing properly. Sit with the tone you actually want before reaching for another pedal. The strongest entries are almost always the ones a player has lived with long enough to know exactly which take is the one. Give yourself the weeks to find that take.

India's guitar landscape spans tradition, fusion, and experiment in ways very few countries can match. We cannot wait to share what this generation is playing when submissions open in May.
