Seeing how a single photograph could capture a fleeting moment and evoke a strong feeling made me want to learn, improve, and dedicate more time to the craft.
How has your photography style evolved over the years?
My photography style has evolved from simply documenting moments to intentionally telling stories through light, composition, and emotion. In the beginning, I focused heavily on technical aspects like sharpness and exposure. Over time, I became more drawn to mood, atmosphere, and the connection between subjects and their environment. I now prefer creating images that feel authentic and emotionally engaging, whether it's wildlife, street scenes, landscapes, or portraits. I've also developed a stronger appreciation for natural light, cleaner compositions, and subtle post-processing that enhances the image without making it look artificial. Every year of shooting has helped me see not just what's in front of the camera, but how to convey the feeling of being there.
What drives your passion for capturing portraits, streets, documents, astro, and landscapes?
What drives my passion for photography is the opportunity to tell stories through different perspectives. Portraits allow me to capture emotions, personalities, and human connections in a single frame. Street photography excites me because of its unpredictability—the fleeting moments, everyday interactions, and authentic stories unfolding around us. Documentary photography gives me a chance to preserve reality and create visual records that may hold significance beyond the present moment. Astrophotography fuels my curiosity about the universe, revealing the beauty and scale of worlds far beyond our own. Landscape photography, on the other hand, helps me connect with nature, light, and the changing moods of the environment. Whether I'm photographing people, streets, stars, or landscapes, my goal remains the same: to create images that inspire curiosity, evoke emotion, and encourage viewers to see the world from a fresh perspective.
What portrait best represents your style, and what makes it special?
What makes this portrait special to me is the storytelling created through light and emotion. The entire frame is built around a single source of light—the flame—which illuminates the child's face and naturally draws the viewer's attention to his expression. The contrast between the darkness and the warm glow creates a sense of mystery, vulnerability, and hope at the same time. I was particularly drawn to the moment of curiosity and reflection on the child's face. Rather than simply documenting a person, I wanted to capture an emotion and a story that viewers could interpret in their own way. The sparks, smoke, and out-of-focus lights in the background add atmosphere without distracting from the subject, helping to create a cinematic feel. From a technical perspective, I used the available light to shape the portrait, preserving deep shadows while ensuring the highlights from the flame remained natural. For me, this image represents the power of photography to turn an ordinary moment into a meaningful visual narrative.

This photograph captures a laundry worker during a fleeting yet powerful moment in his daily routine. As he wrings and snaps a wet garment, thousands of water droplets burst into the air, creating a dramatic visual against the dark background. Beyond the action, the image tells a story of hard work, dedication, and the often-unseen people who keep everyday life moving. I wanted to highlight the dignity of labor and reveal the beauty hidden within an ordinary task, transforming a routine moment into something both artistic and meaningful.
What documentary photo captures a meaningful moment for you, and what's the context?
This photograph captures the traditional Moichara race of rural Bengal, an event that marks the arrival of the monsoon season. As the first rains transform dry fields into muddy wetlands, farmers guide their bulls through flooded paddy fields in a display of strength, skill, and celebration. The flying water droplets, charging cattle, and determined farmer together symbolize the deep connection between agriculture, seasonal change, and community life in Bengal. More than a race, it is a cultural ritual that celebrates the beginning of a new farming cycle and reflects the resilience and spirit of rural communities.
Walk us through your best astrophotography shot—what were the conditions and inspiration?
This photograph was made on a cold, silent night in a remote part of Utah State Park, far away from any city lights. The location was almost completely deserted, with no signs of human activity—just the sound of the wind, the shoreline, and an endless sky overhead. The inspiration came from the feeling of isolation and connection at the same time. The weathered fallen tree in the foreground seemed like a witness to countless nights beneath the stars, while the Milky Way stretched across the sky as a reminder of the vastness of the universe. In a place untouched by light pollution, the galaxy revealed itself in extraordinary detail, creating a scene that felt both humbling and timeless. As an astrophotographer, moments like this are about more than documenting the night sky—they are about capturing the emotion of standing alone in the wilderness, feeling insignificant against the scale of the cosmos, yet deeply connected to it. The contrast between the ancient, lifeless driftwood and the vibrant core of the Milky Way symbolizes the relationship between Earth and the universe, turning a lonely cold night into a powerful visual story.
What landscape photo showcases your technical skill, and what makes it stand out?
What makes this image special is the contrast between tranquility and power. The quiet marina sits beneath a dramatic mountain storm, while a brief burst of golden light illuminates the scene. I was drawn to the way the light, clouds, mountains, and reflections came together for just a few moments, creating a landscape that feels both peaceful and intensely dynamic.
Can you show us an edited versus unedited version of one of your photos and explain your post-processing choices?
In the edit, I made several adjustments to transform the image from a bright, natural photo into a dramatic portrait. I reduced the overall exposure to remove the washed-out look and increased contrast to separate dark and bright areas more strongly. Highlights were reduced to tone down the bright sky and overexposed regions, while blacks and shadows were deepened for a moody appearance. I darkened the background trees and surroundings to make them less prominent, and added background blur (bokeh) to increase subject separation. The subject was selectively brightened to keep the child clearly visible despite darker surroundings. I increased sharpness for more detail in the face paint, hat, and clothing, and enhanced clarity and texture to emphasize the woven hat texture and facial details. Color saturation was increased for richer, more vibrant colors—red tones in the cloth were made more vivid, and the blue face paint was deepened. I applied warm color grading to shift the background toward golden-brown tones, used subject masking to apply different adjustments to the child and background, and added a vignette to darken edges and draw attention to the center. The depth effect was increased to make the subject appear more three-dimensional, and the background blur was adjusted slightly for dramatic effect. Overall, I aimed for a cinematic styling that transforms the photo into a dramatic portrait.
