When did you first realize photography was your passion?
I started realizing my passion for photography at a very young age. I always felt that the way I see the world is different — perhaps even unique in its own way. Through every frame, I try to capture emotions, stories, and moments as I experience them. So, here's the world from my perspective — one frame at a time.
How has your artistic vision evolved since you started?
My artistic vision has never been about perfection. Instead, it's always been about discovering and highlighting the beauty of this imperfect world that we call home. Over time, I've learned to embrace flaws and find poetry in the ordinary, which has deeply shaped my approach to photography.
What is the most challenging part of art photography?
The most challenging part of art photography, in my experience, is finding the perfect balance between reality and fiction — creating images that feel honest yet surreal, familiar yet dreamlike. It's about capturing the world not just as it is, but as it feels, transforming ordinary moments into visual stories that exist somewhere between truth and imagination.
Can you recall a moment where a photo you took exceeded your expectations?
Well yes — one of the most memorable experiences from my early days in photography happened at Yamuna Ghat in Delhi. What started as a normal outing quickly turned chaotic when the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse. A classic Delhi dust storm mixed with heavy rain left us completely stranded. To be honest, photography was the last thing on my mind at that moment. Out of nowhere, an old godman — a wise baba — came to our rescue. He offered us a place to sit, rest, and wait out the storm. While we were stuck there, somewhere between anxiety and boredom, I instinctively picked up my camera and took a street-style portrait of him. Ironically, that unplanned photograph went on to become the most talked-about image I've ever taken. I call it "The weight of time."
What are some of your favorite works that represent your signature style?
These are not just images; they hold a deeper meaning. First, "Three Paper Boats": this image was taken at a time when I was developing my own identity, in the middle of becoming an individual rather than an extension of my family. Second, "Bubble Man": this is my observation about the world we live in. Everyone has a bubble they live in and refuse to acknowledge the outside world. Third, "W.G.W." (Why God Why): There comes a time when you are doing something you don't like at all, but you know you have to because you don't have a choice. You end up doing it with extreme disdain... That is the expression I captured. And the fourth is what started my journey in photography: a quick click that snowballed into a success story in the making — "The Weight of Time."
Tell us about a photo that showcases a unique perspective or technique you used.
The technique I used here was to change my perspective of the subject. Instead of shooting from eye level, I got low and used a wide angle to emphasize the subject's environment, creating a sense of scale and intimacy.
What story or emotion does your series "The Inanimate Expression" convey?
This series is called "The Inanimate Expression." It shows the expressive side of these bronze sculptures, capturing the emotions and stories embedded in their silent forms.
What made capturing that challenging image so difficult?
This shot brought me face to face with wildlife. I had to risk my safety in order to capture the shot. Being so close to a wild tiger required patience, stillness, and a deep respect for the animal's space.
Why do you think that photo resonated with your audience?
My photography comes from a place deep within my heart. I don't just capture what I see—I capture what I feel. Perhaps that's why my images resonate with people and evoke emotions beyond the frame. This particular photo, with its raw emotion and unique perspective, struck a chord with many viewers.
