WallMag Awards: How the Vote Score System Works (A Transparent Guide for Creators)

At WallMag, everything we build starts with one simple belief:
creators deserve fair recognition, not just popularity contests.
The WallMag Awards are our way of celebrating exceptional creative work across disciplines—while ensuring that recognition is earned through a balance of expert evaluation and community support.
This article explains, openly and clearly, how the WallMag Awards Vote Score system works, how finalists and winners are selected, and why this system is designed to be fair, transparent, and creator-first.
Two Core Terms You Should Know
- Vote Points

When someone votes (public or jury), they assign Vote Points:
- 100 points — Extraordinary work
- 70 points — Strong, high-quality work
- 10 points — Just okay work
Each voter selects one of these options per project.
- Vote Score (Out of 100)

The Vote Score is the final score that decides rankings.
- Always calculated out of 100
- Cannot exceed 100
- Updates automatically on the platform
The Core Philosophy: 70% Jury + 30% Public
WallMag Awards are designed to balance quality and community:
- 70% of the Vote Score comes from Jury evaluation
- 30% comes from Public voting
This ensures:
- Pure popularity cannot dominate results
- Jury decisions remain grounded in community sentiment
- Truly strong projects rise consistently
How Vote Score Is Calculated

Every project accumulates two totals during the award period:
- Public Total Vote Points (sum of all public vote points)
- Jury Total Vote Points (sum of all jury vote points)
Public Score Calculation (Maximum 30 Points)
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
Pi | Public total vote points for your project |
Pmax | Highest public total among all projects in a award |
Formula:
Jury Score Calculation (Maximum 70 Points)
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
Ji | Jury total vote points for your project |
Jmax | Highest jury total among all projects in a award |
Formula:
Final Vote Score Formula
- Final result is always out of 100
- Rankings are based on this score
Example: How Two Projects Are Ranked
Assume the following award data:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Highest Public Vote Points (Pmax) | 10,000 |
| Highest Jury Vote Points (Jmax) | 2,000 |
Project Data
| Project | Public Points | Jury Points |
|---|---|---|
| Project A | 7,500 | 1,600 |
| Project B | 10,000 | 1,000 |
Public Score
| Project | Public Score |
|---|---|
| Project A | 22.5 |
| Project B | 30 |
Jury Score
| Project | Jury Score |
|---|---|
| Project A | 56 |
| Project B | 35 |
Final Vote Score
| Project | Final Score |
|---|---|
| Project A | 78.5 |
| Project B | 65 |
Result:
Project A ranks higher due to stronger jury evaluation, even though Project B leads in public votes.
Jury Voting & Transparency
To maintain trust and fairness:
- All jury votes require written comments
- Jurors must explain:
- why they selected 100 / 70 / 10 points
- what stood out or what could improve
This ensures creators receive meaningful feedback, not silent judgment.
Score Updates & Visibility
- Vote Scores update every hour
- Creators can view:
- Public vote points
- Jury vote points
- Normalized scores
- Final Vote Score (out of 100)
All data is visible directly on the platform.
Why This System Is Fair for Creators
The WallMag Awards Vote Score system:
- Rewards quality over virality
- Values community participation without letting it dominate
- Scales fairly regardless of submission volume
- Removes ambiguity with clear tie-break rules
- Builds trust through transparent jury feedback
