Take us back to the very beginning — how did photography first find its way into your life, and what made you pick up the camera and not put it down?
My bond with photography began during my postgraduate days when I was pursuing a diploma in Digital and Broadcast Journalism, way back in 2012-13. It was during those formative years that I first started seeing the world through a different lens, and something about capturing moments just clicked with me.
Was there a particular moment early on — a scene, a light, a place — that made you realise this was more than a hobby for you?
Yes, after completing my degree and during my PG days, I used to go out for shoots regularly. But in 2015, everything changed when I got my Nikon DSLR D-3200 and had the golden opportunity to visit the US. I explored many nature trails and exotic locations in big cities like Atlanta, Washington DC, California, and so on. Those experiences truly cemented my passion for photography.
You describe yourself as both a Nature and a Travel photographer. What pulls you toward each of them, and how do you feel the two feed into and shape each other in your work?
In search of the best nature and travel shots, I started visiting parks, nearby monuments, and even began attending events around me. I started visualising every moment through my camera frame, which helped me blend the serenity of nature with the vibrancy of travel. Each genre informs the other, allowing me to capture both the stillness of a landscape and the energy of a new place.

Tell us the story behind that Nature shot — where you were, what you saw in it, and why it stays with you.
This shot was taken in Alpharetta Township, Atlanta, US, in 2015. I captured it while exploring a pumpkin farm during the summer season. I got a very good vision of a sunflower in a lush green farm with the sunrise, and that moment of perfect light and natural beauty has stayed with me ever since.

What's the story behind that Travel image — the place, the moment, and what you were hoping to capture?
This shot was taken at the San Francisco California Bay Area in 2022. It was an eye-catching moment as the glimpse of the city was very much in vision. I wanted to capture that sweeping urban landscape and the feeling of being in such a vibrant place.
Walk us through your process when you're out in the field — how do you approach a location and wait for the shot you want?
Before approaching a location, I usually do a small amount of research on it. I visualise the right moment and then capture my shot. This preparation helps me be patient and ready for when the perfect scene unfolds.
Share a photograph from a trip or shoot that turned into a memorable experience for you.
What happened on that trip or shoot that made it so memorable — how did the day and that image come together?
My trip to San Francisco, California, in 2022 was one of the most memorable trips I've had with my family. We visited our much-awaited destination, the Golden Gate Bridge, on a very cold day. It was a wonderful experience to capture that very moment, and the image brings back all the joy of that day.
What does a place or a moment need to have for you to feel that pull to raise the camera and photograph it?
First of all, the correct light setting is crucial when capturing any place or moment. I also do some quick changes if needed before the shot to make sure I get the best possible frame.
Share one more image — another favourite of yours that you feel really represents who you are as a photographer.
What is it about that image that feels so 'you'?
This was shot at Ana Nueve Beach in California. I captured a steady moment of a sea gull while wandering. That sea gull looked very calm and composed, just like me, and that sense of stillness and peace really resonates with my personality.
You're also running a business as an entrepreneur — how do you balance that with your photography, and does one ever inspire the other?
I usually work on weekdays and plan my weekends for shoots. This balance allows me to dedicate time to both my business and my passion, and the discipline from one often helps me stay focused in the other.
Looking ahead, what's a place, a subject, or a kind of photograph you're most hoping to explore next?
Right now, I'm looking forward to the autumn season and hoping to capture some shots during the festive season. I'm excited to see what beautiful moments and colours that time of year will bring.
