How did your journey in photography begin?
Photography began as a quiet curiosity. I was always drawn to photographs, and one day I picked up a camera to capture the places, people, and moments that moved me. That curiosity gradually became a passion that has only grown stronger over time.
What was the first moment you realized you had a passion for photography?
I realized photography was more than a hobby when I shared a photograph I had taken on my mobile phone on Facebook. The appreciation was encouraging, but what truly stayed with me was a photographer friend's simple remark: "You can do this." That moment gave me the confidence to pursue photography seriously, and I've never looked back since.
How has your experience in photography grown over the years?
It has been challenging, adventurous, and deeply fulfilling. Every journey, every mistake, and every photograph has helped me grow as both a photographer and a person. I've learned to embrace the unexpected and find beauty in imperfection.
What type of photography do you enjoy most and why?
Landscape photography is closest to my heart because it brings me peace and a deeper connection with nature. I am equally drawn to India's vibrant festivals, where every celebration tells a story through colour, tradition, and human emotion. Both genres allow me to capture the essence of a moment in time.
Tell us about a photo that represents your current skill level.
Captured at dusk, this long-exposure landscape uses the river as a natural leading line to a snow-clad peak illuminated by the day's final light. This image is special to me because it reflects what I seek through landscape photography: a connection with nature, a sense of stillness, and the privilege of witnessing a beautiful moment that existed for only a few minutes. I think I managed to capture the essence through my camera.
Walk us through a photo you took in challenging conditions.
Each photograph came with its own challenges. The Theyyam festival demanded quick reflexes in low light, dense crowds, and close proximity to fire. The Jaisalmer image required careful composition and exposure in rapidly fading light, while the landscape photograph tested my endurance in extreme cold and changing weather. Together, these experiences taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of being ready for fleeting moments.
What editing techniques did you apply to achieve the final result in your before-and-after edit?
I use Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, and Photoshop for subtle adjustments to light, colour, contrast, and composition. I prefer a restrained editing style that enhances the image without compromising its authenticity. The goal is always to bring out the natural beauty of the scene.
How would you describe your photography style in a few words?
Atmospheric landscapes and soulful cultural storytelling. I strive to capture the mood and emotion of a place or event, whether it's the serene stillness of a mountain dawn or the vibrant energy of a festival.
Share a photo of your favorite photography equipment or setup.
My go-to setup is the Canon R5 paired with the RF 15–35mm f/2.8. It gives me the flexibility to capture expansive landscapes, festivals, and night skies while staying true to the mood of the scene. I also use the RF 24–70mm f/2.8 regularly.
