How did your journey in photography begin?
Luckily for me, I've always held a camera in hand, as I come from a long family background of photographers. My father, my uncle—they were all photographers. I grew up watching my father take me to the Fujifilm store, where they used to develop images the old way, using chemicals. As a result, I was handling cameras and taking pictures from a very young age. Every family trip, every family function, I was the official photographer. It wasn't just a hobby; it was a way of life that was handed down to me, and I embraced it fully.
What was the first moment you realized photography was your calling?
I've always known, even as a child, that I wanted to be a photographer. The pictures I clicked back then were appreciated by many people. I had a natural eye for noticing compositions, framing things in a way that others didn't see. That early validation from family and friends made me realize that this wasn't just a passing interest—it was something I was meant to do. It felt less like a choice and more like a destiny I was walking into.
How has your photography style evolved over the years?
I've always been the guy who would watch chick flicks or cry watching someone else cry. I remember as a child, while visiting our native village, our family decided to visit the sugarcane factory. When I reached the factory, I saw two bullocks pulling a very heavy cart loaded with sugarcane while the man sitting on the cart mercilessly whipped them. I started crying right there and asked my mom to help the animals. This softer, more sensitive side of me helped me relate to human emotions as an adult. When I started shooting weddings, capturing raw, genuine images came naturally. Every time a grandmother hugged her grandchildren and blessed them, or every time a best friend talked about the bride's or groom's childhood memories, I could feel those moments deeply—as if I was standing right there with them. Even today, during the bidai towards the end, when the bride hugs her brother and cries, I tear up behind the camera thinking of my own sister's farewell. So, over the years, my style has evolved around capturing real and raw emotions. My goal is to deliver images that clients can look back on after years and relive those moments again, just as they were.
What role has your family lineage played in shaping your career?
A huge, huge role. My father and my uncle were all photographers, so it was more of a blessing than just an influence. They didn't just teach me technical skills; they taught me to see the world through a lens, to respect the craft, and to understand that photography is about storytelling. Their guidance gave me a head start, but their passion for the art form instilled in me the dedication to keep growing.
What makes these wedding photos special, and what's the story behind them?
The image is of my best friend during her marriage. She's been my best friend for over ten years, and her whole family—including her extended family—knows me pretty well. We used to hang out at her place all the time. It was such a great feeling to see her finally get married to the man of her dreams. And her father, who is the most happy and cheerful person I know, was in tears. To see him like that felt something very different, very profound. For me, that's what wedding photography is all about—capturing those fleeting, unscripted moments that tell the real story of love, family, and connection.
Tell us about the concept behind your fashion shoot.
The concept was thought of during the release of the movie Barbie. Everything was pink—the aesthetic, the vibe, the mood. We wanted to create something that felt playful yet stylish, blending the nostalgia of the Barbie world with modern fashion sensibilities. The shoot was all about bright colors, bold statements, and a sense of fun that really allowed the models and the outfits to shine.
What's the energy like when you're covering a live concert, and what challenges do you face?
The artist in the pictures goes by the name 2Blue. Every time he has a gig in Pune, he calls me to cover the event. His fans lovingly call him "Pune's own," and I've been shooting with him for a very long time. His main forte is rock music, and he definitely has the vocals that remind you of Axl Rose from Guns N' Roses. Most of his shows are full of high, raw energy. He looks into every detail himself with precision, so the lighting, sound, and whole production are very well set up, which gives a beautiful experience to the crowd. The main challenge for me as a photographer is the continuously changing lights. There's no fixed color for the lights—not to mention sometimes it's completely dark, with almost zero light. You have to adapt in seconds. 2Blue has a very huge, dedicated fan following. He makes sure he's in touch with everyone, and the fans themselves never miss his gigs. So, almost every show, there's a fan who knows him very personally, and he makes sure to interact with the crowd. My job is to capture those moments too, because he is what he is because of his fans.
Walk us through the editing choices you made for that nature photograph.
We already live in a time where trees are being cut down and human establishment is growing at an unprecedented pace. This picture was clicked in Mussoorie. The lush green lands kissed by the sun's morning rays left me astonished. I captured this image to showcase how humans can coexist with nature. The people living in the town visible in the picture clearly figured it out. On the editing front, I wanted to make sure that the morning feel of the scene didn't wash out. I ensured that the greens looked vibrant and not dull or faded. I had to remove some distractions in the image that were taking the eye away from the main scene. There were shadows cast by an angled sun on the mountains, and I made sure they didn't get lost. Also, the hills above kind of make a frame for the scene, so I preserved that natural composition. I wanted the viewer to feel like they were standing right there, breathing in that fresh mountain air.
